Hachette Bad Monkey

Carl Hiaasen's Bad Monkey is a hilarious murder-comedy. The book revolves around a predictive murder and its investigation done by a former detective working with the Miami Police andrew Yancy. This book brings a comic and ironic presentation of a killing and the readers can enjoy the methods of investigation done by Yancy to desperately get his job back. Carl's book includes numerous odd characters who elevate suspicion throughout the story. These characters leave guess-marks to the readers about who might have been murdered and who might be the murderer.

Yancy, after his losing job as a detective, has been living calmly but in a desperate wait for an opportunity that can help him get his job back. He lost his job after being violent with a man, who was the husband of a woman Yancy was dating. The recent case of a dismantled arm he received might be the golden chance he has been waiting for. While on their honeymoon, a couple shockingly finds a dislocated arm and immediately informs the Sheriff. He gets Yancy unofficially into loop to help. Yancy decides to go all along till the end to solve this case but doesn't have a clue of who the dead might be and who might have killed him.

One fine day, a woman named Eve Stripling informs him about her husband's drowning while they were on a boat. Soon after that, Yancy is able to guess that the dead might have been killed by sharks. But, the reality isn't as simple as he thinks. There are suspicious characters whom Yancy has to follow, which might get him into trouble due to the lack of any official protection. This comedy-filled murder-mystery can keep the readers glued till the last page. Bad Monkey was published by Sphere in 2014 in paperback.
